Animation #3

This scene was exchanged from the original in the story reel, which involved Markus fixing his tooth with floss. From Wendy's suggestion in Preproduction, this scene features him fixing his missing tooth with a gob of toothpaste instead. The paste, while serving as a double-meaning, also reads far better than the floss version, as everything happens in front of the audience to observe.

(This version currently is not touched up with After Effects)

Animations #1

This scene follows the growth of Markus' new tooth. He fetches a surfboard to test his teeth on for the bite, which is shown in the following sequence:

This scene is prior to Markus losing his tooth. It its meant to exemplify how rough he is playing with his sea lion rubber chew toy. The pause is his reaction to a sound passing by the bathroom from the hall adjacent before he returns to play.

Welcome to Ashley Kilgore's Baby Teeth Animation Production Blog!

Created 2014 for Wendy Grieb's Art 353B class Animation Production, this blog focuses on the continued development of the short Baby Teeth. Preproduction, Production, and animation samples will be continually updated to this blog, tracking the progress of it throughout the Spring semester.

Above is the initial film reel with basic timing and boards used to create the guideline of the overall short, created in Art 353A during the 2013 Fall semester. To the right and below are the character turnarounds and poses created for the short's development.

The short follows a baby shark named Markus who, while playing with his toys in the bathroom, loses his first tooth and overreacts to its loss. He attempts to desperately restore the tooth to its proper place in his mouth, but loses the tooth down the sink during his frantic attempts. His despair lasts for a relatively short while when a new tooth suddenly pops up where his old tooth had been! However, there is still one more surprise for the young shark afterwards...

Stay tuned for animated samples and more production work!
